Information

If you ever have any questions for me, feel free to ask.  I want to say I am trying to be very transparent with you when I describe the piece of jewelry.  The chains I use are new, and I will let you know when stainless steel or gold-plated jewelry is used.    I am constantly building on my inventory with jewelry that is the best at a price that is affordable.  It is getting harder to find because of the price of gold constantly going up.  A lot of my inventory was purchased before the price of silver spiked, because of the gold prices.  I try to purchase sterling silver with yellow gold vermeil, rose gold vermeil and rhodium over.  Therefore, I am able to sell to you sterling silver and gold at the same time.  Remember precious metals go up and don't go down in price.  They are an investment.

I do purchase fashion jewelry that is sometime gold plating over and that is fine, because it is beautiful in its own right and sometimes more affordable.  Just be careful when it says gold or silver tone, silvery, gold and silver plating.  Just know that you are not getting precious metals.

Remember the fashion jewelry of today is in no way like the fashion jewelry of yesterday.  No more turning green and the gold covering rubbing off.  What they use today is 100% better in my opinion.  I love to wear fashion jewelry because no one knows unless you tell them.

How Do I know if I have real gold, real silver or real platinum?

Every piece of jewelry has a closure at the back or on it somewhere if it is a real precious metal.  You might need a good magnifying glass to see it but it is there if it is real.  Every brand does it their own way sometimes.  But you can look it up and find out what it means.

When it comes to a gemstone or a diamond it might be different and if you do not see a mark of any kind it might need to be appraised.  This is especially when you paid a lot of money.

What is gold or silver vermeil?

Gold vermeil is real gold in a liquid form that is washed over another solid metal to cover the other less expensive metal and give it a real gold covering.  This makes it look like real gold jewelry because it is covered with real gold.  Usually 14, 18 and sometimes even 22 carat gold is used as a vermeil.   The less expensive metal then becomes more expensive, but not as expensive as 100% gold.  The legal amount is usually about 2 microns of gold layering.

Is Stainless Steel a good metal to use for jewelry?

Stainless Steel is used more now because of the very high prices of gold and silver.  You probably associate it with cutlery in your mother or grandmother's kitchen.  You are correct.  Think how pretty and shiny it is and stays that way.  Plus, it is incredibly strong.  We have a habit of calling it silver ware because a long time ago if you were fortunate to obtain real silver cutlery when you got married you would sometimes use it.    And we just adopted that title.  We don't tell our children to get out the stainless steel, we tell them to get out the silver ware.  At least this is what we say in the South.  I can't speak for the North.

Stainless Steel jewelry is used more and more.  It can really be shined and made to look a lot like platinum.  Many times, a gold vermeil will be used to give it it a golden look.  Do not be ashamed to buy Stainless Steel Jewelry!  The pros outweigh the cons.  It is shiny and pretty, it is very durable and is harder to damage, it will last almost forever, and it will not tarnish!   If a person did not know it was stainless steel, they would assume it was platinum.

We all love jewelry, and I am not going to stop buying it because the price of gold is totally out of sight for most regular people.  Silver is going up every time gold goes up.  There are ways to get the jewelry you want without going in debt!

What is Rhodium?

Rhodium is a platinum derivative; Rhodium is very similar to platinum in some of the ways that it looks. It is being used now a lot.  It is put over sterling silver to give it a slight darker look but shiny and lustrous like platinum.  Platinum is way more expensive than gold.   With this Rhodium vermeil the piece of jewelry will not tarnish and look beautiful for a very long time.
